Best Time to Visit Mount Meru
Mount Meru creates its own local pattern of cloud and rain. Plan for changing conditions between the forest approach, mountain huts and exposed upper ridgeline.
June to October
The main drier season
Generally lower rainfall can make the forest approach less wet. Clearer spells may open mountain views, while mornings and nights remain cool.
January to February
A possible break between rains
Often a drier spell, although its timing is less predictable. December to February can bring clearer mountain views when cloud lifts.
March to May
The long rains
These are normally the wettest months. Expect more cloud, muddy forest paths and potentially slippery ground on the ascent.
November to December
The short rains
Intermittent showers are more likely, often in the afternoon. Forest scenery is greener, but cloud can obscure crater and ridge views.
Carry waterproof and warm layers in every season. Confirm current conditions before departure; neither clear views nor summit success is guaranteed.
